Matius 13:22

13:22 The ¹  seed sown among thorns is the person who hears the word, but worldly cares and the seductiveness of wealth ²  choke the word, ³  so it produces nothing.

Matius 24:38-39

24:38 For in those days before the flood, people ⁴  were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah entered the ark. 24:39 And they knew nothing until the flood came and took them all away. ⁵  It will be the same at the coming of the Son of Man. ⁶

[13:22]  ² tn Grk “the deceitfulness of riches.” Cf. BDAG 99 s.v. ἀπάτη 1, “the seduction which comes from wealth.”

[13:22]  ³ sn That is, their concern for spiritual things is crowded out by material things.

[24:38]  ⁴ tn Grk “they,” but in an indefinite sense, “people.”

[24:39]  ⁵ sn Like the flood that came and took them all away, the coming judgment associated with the Son of Man will condemn many.

[24:39]  ⁶ tn Grk “So also will be the coming of the Son of Man.”
